After reading reviews by customers on Amazons site and searching for ratings by Consumers testing orgs. I bought the unit.It is rated high by other testers... I dont believe you can trust customers reviews in some cases because they either have unusually strict expectations of any given product, or they just dont understand the functional limitations of some units, and this unit is very effective at removing moisture from my place in particular. When people complain about having to empty it too often, ALL dehumidifiers require frequent emptying if they are working efficiently and are not hooked to a hose that drains constantly..
An important consideration with this unit; it is very quiet as some owners said..It is thinner than an LG unit my Son has, it takes-up less space in other words..It does not seem to give-off as much heat (a by product of the compressor running which cant be avoided) as some units I have owned.
In short, I would buy another of these Soleus units without reservation... As for their longevity I cannot say at this point, I have only had it a month..All I can say is it is well made, sturdy, quality material on the outside and is very effective, add Amazons service and always the best prices, this is an excellent purchase if I do pat myself on the back for buying it anyway..

After doing a lot of online research, unless necessary for medical reasons, the ideal humidity of a room is 40-60%. The presets of 50/60/70 are perfect for this. You don't want the indoor air too dry or wood can split, drywall and paint can crack and floors may squeak as the wood dries out and shrinks.

While we’ve only owned it for a week, we are incredibly happy with the purchase.
